Kai Welf Hoyme
Kai Welf Hoyme was born 1979 in Mönchengladbach, Germany.
He lives and works in Mönchengladbach and NRW as an artist and lecturer/art-mediator.
He has studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) and the Ruhr-University of Bochum.
He circles in his artistic works around themes such as cultural imaginaries of death, fictions of social utopias; the gesture, the mirror, the relationships between the human body and mental and physical spaces; (re)imaginations of waste mountains, memory traces of autobiographical places and trauma and the tension between language and image. The artworks have taken the form of experimental shortfilms and videos, performances, sound and audio art, multimedia-installations, photography and scenography. He collaborates with theatre makers, dancers, poets and musicians, too.
